Fênix DTVM is invited to participate in the OCB System working group with ARM

RECOGNITION

Development of techniques to combat informality will be one of the main topics addressed by the group

Fênix DTVM was invited to compose the Working Group of the Traceability and Responsible Chain Project in the Brazilian Mineral Cooperativism of the OCB System (Organization of Brazilian Cooperatives), in recognition of its performance in the legal and responsible exploration of gold.

The director of operations at Fênix DTVM, Pedro Eugenio Procopio da Silva, will be the representative and will have by his side as an alternate, the ESG manager at Fênix DTVM, Talita Galvão. He points out that the development of techniques to combat illegality will be one of the main topics addressed by the group.

“Our contribution will be to pass on practices regarding responsible marketing, helping to develop mechanisms aimed at small and medium-sized mining companies, so that they can get out of illegality and give real value to their products. All of this, meeting regulatory and sustainable requirements,” he said.

The project is the result of a partnership between the OCB System and the Alliance for Responsible Mining (ARM), with the aim of conquering new horizons by improving traceability, management and risk mitigation in the commercialization of mineral goods, in particular, gold.

However, the debate on existing methodologies, stipulated by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in countries abroad, will also be put on the table, allowing for improvement, consistent with the current Brazilian scenario.

“Our great role in this working group is to contribute to the discussions that will arise about the existing methodologies and thus, to contribute to arrive at one that meets the reality of small and medium mining and, above all, to support the cooperatives and members in meeting what will be proposed. Being invited to participate in this project is a recognition of the work that Fênix DTVM has been carrying out in recent years.” finishes Talita.
