Protecting data is critical to a company's reputation

Celebrated on January 28, International Data Protection Day seeks to raise awareness among companies, government agencies and the population about good data collection practices, promoting a culture of protecting this information for the benefit of society.

The date was chosen in reference to the signing of Convention No. 108, of the Council of Europe for the Protection of People, aimed at the automated processing of personal data.

In Brazil, the protection of personal data is regulated in Law No. 13,709/2018 (General Law for the Protection of Personal Data - LGPD), whose objective is to protect the fundamental rights of freedom, privacy and the free formation of the personality of every citizen. in the country.

In this way, the LGPD aims to safeguard the correct processing of personal data, in physical or digital means, in public and private institutions.

Director of Governance, Risks and Compliance, of the FNX Participações Group, Vinicius Pinho, explains that data is the raw material for generating information, and when well managed, they become important assets for the organization.

“The best corporate decisions are only possible when data is properly stored, organized and protected. Any incident involving data, whether personal or not, can significantly affect a company's results and reputation,” emphasizes Pinho.

In this sense, the FNX Participações Group, a corporation that brings together companies from the foreign exchange, fintech, foreign trade, security and surveillance, gold trading segments, among others, has been investing in integrity policies, including the adoption of technologies that allow dealing with any and all data with security and suitability.

“Data protection is not just about technology. Personal data stored in digital, printed or any other format must be treated with care to guarantee the fundamental right to data protection”, emphasizes Mike de Oliveira, Corporate Compliance Manager.

In addition, companies must comply with all applicable local and international laws and regulations regarding data use. It is important for companies to keep a record of all data uses they make and be prepared to provide information to regulatory bodies about how data is handled.
